Local Offer
| 1. How will you know if my child needs extra help or has Special Educational Needs and/or a disability (SEND)? |
Our qualified staff team have many years experience monitoring children's development, if we identify any support that your child may need, it will be discussed with our setting Sendco and parent's |
| 2. How will you support my child’s learning and development and how will I be involved in this? |
Your child will be allocated a key person who will be responsible for all observations and monitoring of their development, you are welcome to have a look at their learning journey at any point and discuss next steps. We also complete two year assessments, which will be shared with parents and also regular Wellcomm screenings which we use to assess speech and language development. |
| 3. How will you support my child to settle into the nursery? |
All children are offered settling in sessions, this can be up to 4 two hour sessions, our staff will communicate with parents throughout and will move at your childs pace, increasing hours as soon as they are ready. |
| 4. What specialist services and expertise are available or accessed by you? |
We work alongside Knowsley early years who offer a range of services and support if needed. |
| 5. What experience and training do practitioners supporting children with SEND have? |
We currently have 3 qualified setting Sendco's who are available to support children in our setting. |
| 6. How will you cater for my child’s medical and/or dietary needs? |
Upon registration we will ask you to complete detailed registration forms to help us gain as much information as possible about your child, this is your opportunity to tell us about any dietary or medical requirements, we are also available if you would prefer to meet in person with your child's new key person, so we can be sure we get everything right. All staff in our setting are fist aid trained and are willing to undertake any medical training needed that may help us support your child. As a setting we use an outside catering company to provide our meals, and they will cater for a variety of dietary requirements, or you are also able to provide a packed lunch to ensure dietary requirements are met. |
| 7. How will my child be included in trips and other additional activities? |
Upon registration you will be asked to give consent for your child attending trips to the local community, as we will often visit the local library, post office, shops and once consent is gained your child will be included in these trips. if we plan any trips further afield you will always be informed and additional consent requested. |
| 8. How will your resources be allocated and matched to my child’s individual needs? |
We have a wide variety of resources available to cater for all stages of development, and once we become familiar with your child we can adapt all activities to suit there developmental needs. If you child does have any SEN needs then we may be able to access additional funding to purchase resources that would be specifically for your child to enhance their experience at nursery. |
| 9. How will you prepare and support my child’s next steps into a new setting/school? |
We work alongside lots of local schools and welcome any transition visits that the school may want to plan in preparation for your child leaving us and starting a new setting. We will complete detailed transition documents that will be shared with both yourselves and a new setting, and also attend school networking meetings hosted by Knowsley Early Years, which are a great opportunity for our staff to discuss your child with future teachers and settings. |
| 10. Who can I contact for further information? |
